Best Practices for setting up sector antennas/AP

For a gateway or a relay location you will want to install a sector antennas to connect surrounding neighbors.

  1. Download updated firmware from the manufacturer’s website. After first logging into the radio, update the radio.

  2. Set up the AP with a new SSID. A good idea is to keep a document with sector antenna ssids and configuration information.

  3. Set a unique channel separate from nearby sectors and free from interference. Use GPS sync if possible.

  4. Set a unique IP address.

  5. Turn on client isolation

  6. Turn on ipv6
